Figma Config 2024
Watching through the Figma Config 2024 recordings now, it's exciting to see all the features being rolled out in the coming months. I don’t have beta access but I can see a few features appearing already, and starting to see how the AI tools can really speed up workflows.
Main new features: New UI3, Dev mode, code connect, AI - image manipulation/creation, layout creation, suggest auto layout, auto prototypes, auto rename layers, multi languages, responsive modes, responsive prototypes and training AI opt-in.
As a contract designer jumping in and out of big projects quite often, it's great to brush up on what's coming with Figma, still the best software by far in my opinion. I will be testing out dev mode on some smaller projects.
One video I found particularly interesting was this one - https://youtu.be/eOq1dgyPuHs?si=Dcg0f0M9V8n2qL8k
The conversation about screens, how we use smart devices, the future of hardware, and how we interact with AI driven products. Speakers Imran Chaudhri & George Kedenburg III, from Humane.
Discussing a new product, AI pin - https://humane.com/aipin
Another interesting point, if not obvious, from this keynote is quote - "AI won't take people's jobs, people who learn to use AI will take people's jobs." - https://youtu.be/SXdoIIcpc1g?si=NAjBAWfGKF-heuoP
Really enjoyed this one - Generative music and effects in software and gaming, inspired by Michael Gondry’s music video ‘Star Guitar’.
